The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy

Updated: Jun 28

Shaping a Circular Manufacturing Vision for 2050

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy focuses on shaping the country's economic landscape while addressing the challenges of climate change. It formulates policies to foster a balance between economic prosperity and environmental sustainability.

In today's world, where resources are finite and environmental challenges loom large, the transition towards a sustainable and circular economy has become imperative. Recognizing this urgency, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy has set forth a visionary aim: to establish a fully circular manufacturing industry by the year 2050.

Our student consultants: Luuk, Nick, Anouk, Friso and Ichelle, have been assigned the task of developing an action plan to achieve this vision. Using interviews, desk research, and co-creation sessions, our students will identify upcoming trends and technologies, as well as explore the extent to which an agent-based model can help map the effects of policies and trends. Additionally, they will visualize an action plan to create a fully circular manufacturing industry in the Netherlands by 2050.
